The Swede!!!

So he’s not the character that squared up to Clint Eastwood during one of the most memorable scenes in Heartbreak Ridge but to compare him to that particular Swede would be an injustice.

He’s the big dude in this video:

For this one is considerably more beast-like despite his occasional clumsiness – the fact is, Daniel Majstorovic wears his heart on his sleeve.

I’ll be the first to admit I didn’t watch the 1-0 win over Asteras Tripolis due to fatigue, Newcastle United and my general attempts to reorganize myself with work and study commitments (I’m moving off my usual Greece coverage with Goal – just what that means for The Offside’s content, time will tell) but from what I have read the former Basel man was inspirational at the back, aside from his 85th minute headed winner.

Having been one of the more successful signings made by previous incumbent Giorgios Donis at the beginning of the season he has thrived alongside Sotiris Kyrgiakos and appeared to step up in his absence, despite a relatively dour display by his teammates (by casual flicking to the match suggested nothing other than the usual Greek Super League scrap).

Another three points though in the race for second, as Olympiakos so delightfully fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Ergotelis away…
