Lauren To AEK?!?!?!?!?!?!?
By: Chris Paraskevas | December 20th, 2008Well, this rumour came completely out of left-field (awaiting USA authentication on use of that cliche) even by the standards of the usual stories involving Greek transfers. 
Apparently Portsmouth defender and Cameroon international Lauren wants to join the Dusan Bajevic crusade at AEK Athens (currently one of the most inept crusades in the history of…well…humanity, really).
As much as I’m used to acknowledging the fact that when the word “Greece” appears in the same article as a transfer rumour it usually carries the legitimacy of a…ermmm…*insert ridiculous analogy*…perhaps it isn’t all that ludicrous that Mr. Lauren does indeed seek a move to the OAKA Spiros Louis Stadium.
With Angelos Basinas apparently being coaxed into right-back (and what wonders THAT will do for his morale and work ethic) and Juanfran being…well…Juanfran…one wonders whether the Serbian boss is indeed looking for a player approaching quality and with the ability to sprint for prolonged periods.
I’ll step out of the realms of the reality that is a dodgy Greek transfer rumour kingdom and pretend for a moment that Lauren is indeed coming to improve the quality of a squad sorely lacking in it.
Only now though, do I realize that this story has originated in The Daily Mail, giving it absolute legitimacy and truth.
