Last-gasp – and we wouldn’t have it any other way…

Within that space of time, a goal of absolute quality by Larissa’s Giorgios Fotakis was responded to by a neat assist-and-finish by Rafik Djebbour, the man who was a major doubt for the clash through illness.
By all reports – a lack of streaming/motivation/television coverage and my own fatigue prevented me from laying eyes upon the encounter myself – it was an even but unspectacular affair during which Ouzounidis and Bajevic’s men probably showed why they are in similar league positions this season.
It seems as though Nacho Scocco provided his usual spark, the Argentine having been a shining beacon all season but the resolve was all the more impressive because it was in the absence of talismanic central defender Sotiris Kyrgiakos, though the deputising Giorgios Alexopoulos is now slouch himself…
In any case, the draw, combined with PAOK’s loss at the OAKA Spiros Louis, sets AEK up nicely for a final run of fixtures during which maximum points virtually need to be acquired if there is to be a chance of UEFA Champions League football next season – and what a boost that would be during what has been a tumultuous season whose manner was so aptly summed up by three minutes of football.
Perhaps it really is about the game after all?
