Basinas: Draw Doesn’t Suit AEK Or Panathinaikos

Despite an impressive individual performance and a disciplined team display, Angelos Basinas remains unhappy with his AEK side’s scoreless derby draw…
AEK Athens midfielder Angelos Basinas says his team’s scoreless draw with Panathinaikos at the weekend suits neither side.
The former Panathinaikos veteran and Euro 2004 winner produced arguably his most impressive performance in an AEK jersey at the weekend, helping his team-mates stifle Henk Ten Cate’s in-form side.
However, speaking at a post-match press conference, the Greece international was unsatisfied with the result.
“The draw does not suit either side,” Basinas said. “We gave 100%, did everything we could but couldn’t win.”
His words might just be considered within the context of Olympiakos’ weekend success, their win over Asteras Tripolis extending their lead over third-placed Panathinaikos to nine points.
AEK meanwhile, languish in fourth place, fourteen points behind the league leaders.
