AEK 1-1 Bologna

By: Chris Paraskevas | August 19th, 2008

By most accounts, a fairly open match and a nice goal scored by Rivaldo. Alexopoulos looks in really good nick and apparently produced a cracking performance and it was nice to see Juanfran get forward a little more and to see Aussie Burns get an hour under his belt. Saja also seems to be shaping up to be an impressive ‘keeper.

Judging by the highlights though, the traditional lack of pace in midfield and gap between it and defense remains. Donis has his work cut out for him this season. A few positives but will they be enough to carry us through against Omonia?

The good news is, Donis looks set to name Basinas and Kyrgiakos for the second-leg, confirmed during an interview following the Bologna match, for those of you who can read Greek.

Highlights:

Goals:

PS. One for the cynics: Nsawila replaced, you guessed it, Kone at half-time. Donis isn’t exactly going to get the Greek Super League’ssubtlety award this year, is he?

ΑΕΚ: Saja, Georgeas (60’ Koutroumanos), Alexopoulos, Juanfran, Edson Ramos Silva (46’ Gentzoglou), Kafes (60’ Rivaldo), Kone (46’ Nsawila), Lagos (60’ Zorbas), Tachtsidis, Burns (60’ Scocco), Pavlis (60’ Blanco).
